Role Purpose
M&G Advice is seeking an experienced and inspirational business leader to lead Continuum through its next phase of growth, development and transformation.
The Managing Partner will be accountable for the overall leadership, performance, governance and delivery of strategy for Continuum, influencing strategic direction in partnership with the Strategic Partner and wider M&G Advice leadership. The role holder will act as the visible leader of the business, ensuring advisers are equipped to succeed, clients receive outstanding outcomes and the business delivers sustainable growth and profitability. A key early priority will be to stabilise and re-energise a founder-led, relationship-led business, sustaining adviser trust and confidence through a period of leadership transition.
As a member of the M&G Advice Leadership Team, the role holder will operate as a senior enterprise leader, contributing to the development and execution of the wider M&G Advice strategy and helping shape the future of one of the UK's leading advice businesses.
The role will also provide leadership across key associated entities and strategic relationships, including My Continuum Wealth Limited, and may sit on associated boards, bringing corresponding Board Director responsibilities.
The role requires a leader capable of balancing commercial performance, adviser engagement, customer outcomes, regulatory requirements and long-term strategic growth whilst preserving and strengthening the unique culture and heritage that have contributed to Continuum's success.
Whilst initially focused on Continuum, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute broadly across M&G Advice and support the evolution of the wider adviser business strategy as organisational priorities develop.
The role offers significant opportunity to contribute beyond the immediate scope of Continuum as M&G Advice continues to evolve.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Influence the strategic direction of Continuum and be accountable for delivery of the agreed strategy, in partnership with the CEO of Advice and aligned to the broader objectives of M&G Advice.
Identify opportunities to accelerate growth through adviser recruitment, adviser productivity, client acquisition, strategic partnerships, workplace opportunities, evolving customer needs, technology, data and AI.
Anticipate market, regulatory and competitive developments and position the business for future success.
Lead strategic initiatives that enhance adviser and client propositions while supporting commercial growth.
Support operating model evolution where this strengthens the strategic direction, adviser experience, customer outcomes and commercial performance of Continuum and M&G Advice.
Contribute to the broader strategic direction of M&G Advice as a member of the Leadership Team.
Business Leadership
Lead overall business performance across financial, operational, customer and risk measures.
Deliver agreed revenue, profitability, growth and productivity objectives.
Ensure the business operates efficiently, effectively and sustainably.
Drive a culture of accountability, performance and continuous improvement.
Ensure resources are aligned to strategic priorities and future growth opportunities.
Adviser Leadership
Act as the visible leader and champion of the Continuum adviser community.
Build strong levels of trust, engagement and advocacy across advisers.
Foster an environment where advisers can grow successful businesses and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
Ensure adviser insight and feedback influence business priorities and decision making.
Protect and strengthen the values, culture and professional standards that differentiate Continuum in the marketplace.
Enterprise Leadership
Operate as a senior enterprise leader across M&G Advice.
Collaborate effectively across M&G Advice businesses, M&G Life and Group functions.
Contribute to organisation-wide priorities, transformation programmes and strategic initiatives.
Balance the interests of Continuum with the wider objectives of M&G Advice and M&G Group.
Support the development of increasingly integrated advice, support and service propositions.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with advisers, Boards, regulators, industry bodies, colleagues and strategic partners.
Represent Continuum internally and externally.
Influence senior stakeholders and build alignment around strategic priorities.
Act as a credible ambassador for both Continuum and M&G Advice.
Provide visible leadership across key associated entities and strategic relationships, including My Continuum Wealth Limited, and discharge any associated Board Director responsibilities with appropriate judgement and accountability.
Governance, Risk & Regulatory Oversight
Ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance across the business.
Promote strong risk management and control frameworks.
Champion Consumer Duty and customer-centric decision making.
Build confidence with Boards, regulators and key stakeholders through strong judgement and leadership.
Hold and discharge Senior Management Function responsibilities, expected to include SMF27 and SMF3, subject to final regulatory confirmation.
Ensure appropriate governance evolves alongside business growth.
People Leadership
Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing leadership team.
Build organisational capability and succession strength.
Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, professionalism and accountability.
Support colleague engagement, talent development and leadership capability.
Lead effectively through periods of change and transformation.
Experience & Expertise
Essential
Significant senior leadership experience within financial advice, wealth management or broader financial services.
Proven experience leading substantial client, distribution or adviser-led businesses.
Strong commercial track record, including P&L ownership, capital management, growth delivery and accountability across multi-entity Board environments.
Experience developing and executing business strategy.
Ability to operate effectively at Executive, Board and regulator level.
Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrable experience leading through transformation and organisational change.
Ability to harness data, insight, technology to improve adviser productivity, client outcomes, operational efficiency and business performance.
Desirable
Experience within adviser networks, self-employed advice businesses or wealth management firms.
Experience holding Senior Management responsibilities within a regulated environment, with a strong understanding of SMCR and its practical application, including clear accountability, effective governance, regulatory engagement and oversight of conduct and customer outcomes.
Experience operating within large, complex and matrix organisations.
Appropriate financial services and professional qualifications.
Knowledge and experience of leveraging AI and emerging technologies responsibly within a regulated environment to enhance business performance, adviser effectiveness and customer outcomes.
