Senior Full-Stack Developer — Healthcare Integrations & FHIR
Neurithum | Part-time or Full-time
Neurithum is developing an AI-powered clinical platform for Australian healthcare and aged care. We are seeking a hands-on senior developer to lead integrations, strengthen our backend architecture and bring our software to production readiness while guiding our junior development team.
Our core focus is API development, healthcare interoperability, FHIR implementation and reliable production delivery.
What you will do
- Design and develop secure, scalable backend services using **Java and Spring Boot**.
- Build and integrate APIs connecting Neurithum with clinical systems, external platforms and Australian government services.
- Implement **HL7 FHIR**, including resource mapping, profiles, validation and clinical data exchange.
- Contribute across the full stack, from frontend workflows and backend services to databases and deployment.
- Work with **PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS** to improve performance, reliability and maintainability.
- Prepare software for production through automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, security controls and recovery planning.
- Support Australian **Business-to-Government (B2G)** integrations and relevant conformance testing, technical documentation and release evidence.
- Mentor junior developers, review code and guide architectural and implementation decisions.
- Collaborate with clinical and AI teams to support safe, traceable use of healthcare data.
**Essential experience**
- Strong commercial experience with **Java, Spring Boot and RESTful API development**.
- Proven experience delivering **clinical software, EHR/EMR systems or healthcare integration platforms**.
- Hands-on **FHIR implementation** experience beyond theoretical familiarity.
- Experience delivering healthcare projects for organisations in **Australia, the United States or Europe**.
- Full-stack development capability, with strong PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS experience.
- Understanding of healthcare privacy, security and compliance requirements, including access controls, audit trails and sensitive-data handling.
- Experience taking software into production and supporting it after release.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers, communicate clearly and take ownership of technical delivery.
**Highly regarded**
- Australian B2G, Services Australia or Australian Digital Health Agency integration experience.
- Exposure to the **HI Service, My Health Record, NASH and NOC/conformance testing**.
- Experience with **AU Core FHIR, SMART on FHIR, SNOMED CT-AU or Australian Medicines Terminology**.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into clinical workflows.
