Senior Network Engineer

As Senior Network Engineer you will design, implement and manage our Hosting services network infrastructure, lead architecture blueprints and projects, mentor engineers, and keep our networks efficient, secure and reliable.
You'll join our Engineering team (24/7 NOC, DevOps, SRE, Cloud and Network Infrastructure), which delivers Managed Services to customers, from solution design and environment builds to daily operations. The role reports to the Head of Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and manage core on-prem network infrastructure for customer-facing hosting services
Own core routing and network security, including firewalls, DDoS protection and VPNs
Troubleshoot complex network issues with minimal downtime
Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations and extensions
Drive network automation and IaC to improve change control and efficiency
Monitor and optimise network performance
Support ISO 27001 compliance and mitigate risks from vulnerability and audit assessments
Work with stakeholders and customers to deliver projects on time
Maintain accurate designs, configurations, asset inventory and documentation
Lead incident, problem and change management for the network team
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption
Participate in a shared on-call rota
Required technical expertise
Strong networking fundamentals and hands-on on-prem production experience with Cisco and Juniper
Routing, switching, firewalls and VPNs
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF and VXLAN
Network security and high-availability design
DDoS protection (e.g. Cloudflare)
Software Defined Networking
Automation/IaC tooling and scripting
Network observability and monitoring
Requirements
5+ years managing complex networks, ideally in hosting, focused on management, security and monitoring
Ready to drive ownership and change across our network infrastructure
Problem-solving, can-do attitude; keeps things simple and follows best practices
Familiar with ITIL processes
Comfortable communicating directly with customers
CCNP or JNCIP certification
exposure to compliance-driven environments is an advantage
