About the Role
Availity is seeking an experienced Director, Software Engineering to lead and grow multiple engineering teams in India. This role is responsible for building high-performing teams, delivering high-quality software, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring reliable and secure operation of products and platforms.
The ideal candidate is a strong engineering leader with experience managing large engineering organizations, delivering complex software solutions at scale, and partnering effectively across Product, Engineering, Security, Operations, and Business teams. This leader will foster a culture of ownership, accountability, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement while enabling teams to deliver business outcomes with speed and discipline.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and grow multiple engineering teams, managers, and technical leaders.
Create a culture of ownership, accountability, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Deliver major product and platform initiatives with predictable execution, strong quality, and operational excellence.
Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to define priorities, plans, and delivery commitments.
Establish and improve engineering practices across software development, testing, releases, cloud operations, reliability, security, and observability.
Drive shift-left quality practices, automated testing, release readiness, production validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Establish and monitor team goals, service reliability measures, quality metrics, operational dashboards, and delivery KPIs.
Promote responsible adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices while ensuring proper human review, secure coding standards, testing rigor, and compliance requirements.
Drive automation and engineering productivity improvements without compromising software quality, security, customer experience, or reliability.
Support architectural and technical decisions that improve scalability, resilience, maintainability, and operational effectiveness.
Build strong relationships across global teams and proactively remove organizational and delivery roadblocks.
Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while developing future engineering leaders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
15+ years of software engineering experience delivering enterprise software products and platforms.
10+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading managers and senior technical leaders.
Experience managing engineering organizations of 50+ engineers across multiple teams and functions.
Proven experience delivering cloud-native products and platforms in AWS or other public cloud environments.
Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and modern development practices.
Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver multiple large and complex initiatives simultaneously.
Experience establishing engineering processes that improve software quality, reliability, operational performance, and customer outcomes.
Strong collaboration, communication, stakeholder management, and people leadership skills.
Experience working effectively with globally distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and operating large-scale SaaS platforms.
Experience leading organizations responsible for highly available and mission-critical systems.
Strong background in cloud engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, site reliability, and platform engineering.
Experience driving engineering productivity through automation and AI-assisted development practices.
Experience modernizing legacy platforms and leading cloud migration initiatives.
Working knowledge of Java, .NET, APIs, databases, and modern web technologies.
Strong understanding of secure software development and operational excellence practices.
