Description supplied by the original job listing.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Grid Interconnection Consultant based in the United States.
This remote role supports utility planning and advisory projects focused on generator interconnection and transmission planning.
You’ll help clients navigate complex interconnection requirements and evaluate how new generation resources affect the power grid.
The work spans conventional and renewable generation projects, including wind, solar, battery storage, and hybrid resources.
You’ll perform sophisticated power system studies covering steady-state, dynamic, transient stability, voltage, thermal, and short-circuit analyses.
You’ll also review ISO studies, develop technical models, and provide guidance that informs client interconnection strategies.
The role combines hands-on engineering analysis with technical reporting, project planning, and client collaboration.
As a remote consultant, you’ll work with multidisciplinary teams and leverage modern engineering and technology tools to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Accountabilities
Prepare generator interconnection applications, including conceptual single-line diagrams, reactive power compliance verification, and steady-state, dynamic, and short-circuit models.
Review ISO feasibility and system impact studies and provide technical guidance to clients participating in interconnection processes.
Perform independent power system studies, including thermal and voltage contingency, transient stability, and short-circuit analyses.
Conduct advanced grid studies to evaluate specific operating scenarios and potential impacts associated with conventional and renewable generation projects.
Model inverter-based resources and renewable technologies, including wind turbine generators, photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and hybrid generation resources.
Develop and analyze collector system models and other technical inputs required for interconnection applications.
Use transmission planning and power system analysis software to support load-flow, contingency, dynamic, and other advanced studies.
Prepare clear technical reports, proposals, analyses, and recommendations for clients and project stakeholders.
Collaborate with colleagues and provide technical guidance to other team members when appropriate.
Support project planning, coordination, and execution while maintaining technical quality and project objectives.

Knowledge of major U.S. power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, and ISO-NE.
Experience modeling inverter-based and renewable resources such as wind turbine generators, photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and hybrid generation.
Experience with PSS/E, PSLF, and/or PSCAD for interconnection modeling and analysis.
Experience using transmission planning software, particularly PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA, for load-flow modeling and contingency studies.
Experience with dynamic, transient stability, or other advanced studies using tools such as TSAT, EMTP-RV, or PSCAD is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly.
Experience preparing technical reports and proposals.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with and guide others.
