​JOB PURPOSE
​This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the warehouse floor (finished goods as well as spare parts warehouses). This role balances people management (training and directing staff) with operational execution (receiving, put-away, picking, and shipping).
​CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
​1. Shift Supervision & Team Leadership
​Supervise, coach, and schedule a team of warehouse associates, forklift operators, and material handlers.
​Conduct daily shift start-up meetings to communicate goals, safety topics, and work assignments.
​Ensure all team members are properly trained on standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment operation, and safety protocols.
​Address performance issues promptly and provide constructive feedback; escalate serious matters to the Warehouse Manager.
​Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment with a strong emphasis on safety.
​2. Daily Warehouse Operations
​Plan and prioritize daily workload to meet shipping/receiving deadlines and production supply needs.
​Oversee all inbound (receiving, inspection, put-away) and outbound (picking, staging, loading) activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
​Monitor warehouse layout and storage utilization; recommend adjustments to improve space and workflow.
​Step in to operate forklifts, reach trucks, or pallet jacks during peak times or staff shortages (must be certified or willing to get certified).
​Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts to maintain high inventory accuracy (≥ 98%).
​3. Safety & Compliance
​Enforce all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper PPE usage and safe material handling.
​Conduct daily safety walkthroughs to identify hazards (e.g., damaged racks, blocked aisles, leaking chemicals).
​Ensure all equipment pre-shift inspections are completed and logged.
​Investigate minor incidents/near-misses and report findings to the Warehouse Manager.
​4. Reporting & Administration
​Maintain accurate shift logs, productivity tracking sheets, and receiving/shipping documentation.
​Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and/or ERP system to track inventory movements and close out work orders.
​QUALIFICATION
​Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business
​3–5 years of experience in a warehouse/distribution environment, with at least 1 year in a team lead or assistant supervisor capacity.
​REQUIRED SKILLS
​Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, sorting, simple formulas) and email communication.
​Experience with a WMS (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar) is highly preferred.
​Familiarity with scanning guns/RFID technology.
​Leadership: Ability to motivate a team and earn respect through a "lead-by-example" work ethic.
​Problem-Solving: Quick thinker who can resolve bottlenecks (e.g., a down forklift or a missing pallet) without panic.
​Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to give directions and report up to management.
​Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple priorities—supervising people, answering radio calls, and managing paperwork.
