We are seeking an experienced software engineer to join our dynamic Cloud Infrastructure team at eBay in Dublin, Ireland. This role demands a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, such as containers and Kubernetes, and Internet infrastructure technologies, such as DNS, HTTP proxies, SSH, and SMTP. The role requires knowledge of these protocols on Linux systems. This role also requires strong programming skills in languages such as Go and Python. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of at least 3 years in the field, focusing on developing cloud-native infrastructure applications. The candidate should understand operational principles including high availability, reliability, scalability, and automation.
What you will accomplish
Collaborate with internal customers and partners to deliver key business outcomes.
Develop and enhance infrastructure applications to meet reliability, scalability, and availability needs of eBay.
Ensure that infrastructure applications are compliant with eBay's security and operational standards.
Implement observability practices to ensure comprehensive monitoring and alerting across cloud services.
Respond to cloud incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Develop and maintain incident response plans.
What you will bring:
Minimum of 3+ years of programming experience with Go or Python or Java.
Demonstrated expertise in Internet infrastructure protocols on Linux systems, including DNS, HTTP proxy, SSH, and SMTP in Linux-based environments.
3+ years of experience in implementing large-scale, distributed, high-availability, fault-tolerant systems and infrastructure in a production environment.
Proficiency in delivering products within a multi-functional team environment.
Extensive experience deploying applications with Kubernetes.
Experience with AI for programming, designing, and troubleshooting.
Experience in a high-traffic, large-scale environment.
Familiarity with large-scale bare metal operating system provisioning and managing operating system repositories is a plus.
Experience in participating in open-source standards and contributing to open-source projects is a plus.
