Job Title: Process Chemist
Location: Jaipur, Rajasthan
Work Mode: On-site
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: 5+ years
Industry: Recycling / Precious Metal Recovery / Chemical Processing
Job Description
BedRock Recycling is commissioning a Solar cell silver refining and extraction line in Jaipur, Rajasthan, based on a wet-chemical process involving acid leaching, filtration, precipitation, reduction, drying, and melting/casting, with an expected scrap throughput of approximately 500 kg/day.
We are looking for an experienced Plant/Production Chemist who can independently translate the equipment vendor's process into a stable, safe, and commercially viable operating process. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in silver/precious-metal recovery or refining and must have previously worked on a plant/production floor rather than exclusively in laboratory or R&D environments.
Key Responsibilities
· Independently develop, establish, and operationalize the complete silver refining and extraction process for the plant.
· Convert the equipment vendor's process recommendations into detailed and practical SOPs, work instructions, process parameters, and operating protocols.
· Develop and optimize processes covering:
• Acid leaching
• Filtration and solid-liquid separation
• Chemical precipitation
• Chemical reduction
• Washing and drying
• Melting and silver casting
· Establish critical process parameters, chemical dosing requirements, reaction conditions, process controls, and operating ranges.
· Optimize the process to achieve targeted silver recovery, purity, yield, and reagent efficiency.
· Identify and troubleshoot process deviations, recovery losses, contamination, yield variations, and quality issues.
· Monitor reagent consumption and identify opportunities to reduce chemical/process costs without compromising recovery or purity.
· Work closely with plant operators and production teams to ensure SOP compliance and consistent process execution.
· Train operators and production staff on chemical handling, process operations, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
· Establish process monitoring and documentation systems for batch-wise production, chemical consumption, recovery, purity, yield, and process deviations.
· Take ownership of day-to-day process performance once the plant is commissioned.
· Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to improve recovery, purity, throughput, safety, and operating cost.
· Ensure safe handling, storage, dosing, and disposal of acids, chemicals, residues, and process waste.
· Take ownership of fume extraction/scrubber systems and effluent treatment/handling associated with the process.
· Ensure plant operations are aligned with applicable CPCB and Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) requirements and internal EHS standards.
· Coordinate with equipment vendors, maintenance teams, production teams, and management during commissioning, trials, troubleshooting, and process stabilization.
· Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, batch records, process reports, and improvement records.
Required Experience & Technical Expertise
• 5+ years of hands-on plant/production experience as a Chemist, Process Chemist, Production Chemist, Refinery Chemist, or similar role.
• B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry or B.Tech/M.Tech in Chemical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Chemistry/Engineering.
• Strong experience in silver refining, bullion refining, precious-metal recovery, e-waste recycling, PV/solar waste recovery, PCB precious-metal recovery, electroplating/photo-film silver recovery, or closely related industries.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and independently owning SOPs for a production/process line.
• Experience in process optimization with a focus on recovery, purity, yield, reagent consumption, and cost control.
• Practical experience troubleshooting chemical processes directly on the plant floor.
• Candidates whose experience is limited to laboratory work, academic research, or R&D, without hands-on plant/production experience, will not be suitable for this position.
• Similarly, candidates with experience limited to electroplating or electrolysis/electrowinning, without hands-on experience with the required wet-chemical leaching, precipitation, and reduction process, may not be a suitable match.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should be someone who can take ownership of the chemistry and process from commissioning through stable production—not just operate an established process.
You should be comfortable working hands-on at the plant, developing SOPs, setting process parameters, troubleshooting chemical/process issues, training operators, and continuously improving plant performance.
If you have hands-on experience in silver/precious-metal recovery and have independently developed and operated wet-chemical refining processes, we would like to hear from you.
