Windchill: PTC's PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system. It stores and version-controls product data and, in PLCMS setups, the content (manuals, service documents) linked to products.
Arbortext Editor: PTC's structured XML authoring tool. Authors write content in DITA/XML with it, and developers customize menus, toolbars and behavior (often via APL scripting).
Arbortext Styler: A visual tool for building stylesheets that control how XML looks in PDF and HTML output.
Arbortext Publishing Engine (APE): Server-side engine for automated publishing (not named in the JD, but commonly used with it).
XML technologies
DITA XML: Standard for topic-based authoring (topics, maps, reuse, conditional content). Core to the role.
XSD (XML Schema): Defines valid XML structure and rules.
XSLT: Transforms XML into other formats (HTML, PDF via XSL-FO, other XML).
XPath: Query language for navigating XML nodes; used inside XSLT.
XQuery: Query language for extracting and processing XML data.
Content and publishing concepts
XML templates: Pre-built document structures so authors follow consistent formats.
Authoring practices: Guidelines for writing per DITA standards (topic types, naming, reuse).
Profiling: Conditional content (e.g. show a paragraph only for a certain product model or region).
Bursting: Splitting one large document or publication into multiple output files or deliverables.
Publishing rules and automated delivery: Automatically generating and distributing PDF/HTML outputs.
Translation management: Sending content out for translation and merging it back, keeping versions in sync (usually XLIFF-based).
Supporting skills
Windchill admin and configuration management (basic): Access, lifecycle states and baselines.
Integration: Connecting Arbortext Editor and Styler with Windchill so authors can check content in and out.
User training: Teaching authors the tools and processes.
