Role Description
The Head of AI / Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Innovation Executive provides strategic leadership for artificial intelligence, technology, digital innovation, and enterprise transformation. This executive role defines the organisation’s technology vision, develops AI and innovation roadmaps, and ensures that technology investments deliver measurable business value, sustainable growth, operational resilience, and competitive advantage.
The position works closely with the CEO, Board, executive leadership, product, engineering, data, cybersecurity, operations, finance, legal, and commercial teams. Responsibilities include setting technology strategy, overseeing AI platforms and data capabilities, guiding architecture decisions, prioritising digital investments, developing innovation programmes, and ensuring technology initiatives align with business objectives and customer needs.
The role leads the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, including machine learning, generative AI, automation, cloud platforms, advanced analytics, and intelligent digital products. It establishes governance, security, risk-management, and ethical-AI standards while building high-performing technical teams, developing external partnerships, and translating complex technology opportunities into practical, scalable business outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
Master’s degree, MBA, PhD, or executive qualification in technology, AI, innovation, or business leadership is an advantage.
Significant leadership experience in technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, engineering, product development, or innovation.
Proven ability to define and execute enterprise technology, AI, data, cloud, or digital-transformation strategies.
Strong understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI, data platforms, automation, cloud computing, and modern software architectures.
Experience evaluating emerging technologies and translating technical opportunities into commercial, operational, or customer value.
Ability to develop AI roadmaps, innovation portfolios, investment cases, technology operating models, and measurable delivery plans.
Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, product, data, security, operations, and business functions.
Strong understanding of responsible AI, AI governance, model risk, data privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and ethical technology practices.
Experience overseeing technology architecture, platform modernisation, systems integration, scalability, reliability, and business continuity.
Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen, including technology budgeting, investment prioritisation, vendor management, and return-on-investment assessment.
Experience building and developing high-performing technical, data, engineering, and innovation teams.
Strong executive communication, stakeholder-management, influencing, and decision-making skills.
Ability to engage effectively with boards, investors, customers, regulators, strategic partners, and senior business leaders.
Experience in the relevant industry, including its technology landscape, competitive environment, customer needs, and regulatory requirements, is an advantage.
