350.org is looking for a Field Organizer who can build and grow the climate movement and 350 Japan’s volunteer community.

About the Field Organizer
The Field Organizer will play a leading role in 350 Japan, organizing and expanding grassroots climate movements to drive impactful campaigns. The Field Organizer will recruit individuals and groups, nurture leaders, and design training programs that empower activists to advance 350 Japan’s goals—all while respecting Japan’s unique cultural context. The role will be located in Japan, with a strong preference for the Kanto area. Native level Japanese and business-level English required. However, if we don't find a candidate who meets that profile, we will consider people with different experience, language skills, and expertise. Responsibilities
Strategy & Campaign Execution
Develop and implement 350 Japan’s organizing strategy.
Lead short- and long-term organizing efforts for campaigns, global moments, or key projects.
Engage and contribute to the development of an effective 350 global strategy of the global climate movement.
Community Building & Leadership Support
Strengthen and expand the volunteer community for 350 Japan campaign goals.
Mentor and support activist leaders to foster growth and engagement.
Training & Development
Design and deliver training programs for individuals, groups, and leaders at all levels.
Ensure training aligns with 350 Japan’s campaign goals and cultural relevance.
Recruitment & Movement Growth
Identify, engage, and recruit new participants to the movement.
Support the discovery and development of emerging leaders.
Public Engagement
Engage with the general public to raise awareness and recruit new volunteers and activists.
Build and maintain a constructive relationship with existing groups and movements to take collaborative action for climate justice.
Accountability & Reporting
Provide timely updates to your line manager on progress and challenges.
Required Qualifications
Passion & Commitment
A strong passion for addressing climate change, along with a basic understanding of the issue.
A deep commitment to building a joyful, inclusive movement grounded in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Organizing & Leadership
Ability to develop sharp, actionable organizing strategies both for short/long term campaigns and movement growth.
Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow as an organizer.
Self-motivation and the ability to work remotely, effectively, and sustainably without daily oversight.
Collaboration & Communication
A kind, collaborative team player who values accountability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, internally and externally.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think critically and creatively.
Comfortable using (or willing to learn) digital organizing tools: ex. CRM (ActionKit), Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, LINE, Canva, and Instagram.
Language & Cultural Fit
Native-level Japanese fluency.
Business-level English proficiency.
Desired (but not required) skills and experiences
● 5+ years of organizing experience (or 3+ years in climate-focused movement organizing).
We are looking for someone comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
Position Type: Full-time- 36hours per week.
