How will you make your impact?
The Substation Design Engineering Intern will support the design and development of high-voltage substation and power infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced engineers. This internship provides students with hands-on exposure to engineering design, technical documentation, equipment selection, and project execution within the power industry.
The role is designed for students pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering who are interested in developing practical experience in power systems, renewable energy, and grid modernization projects. Interns will gain valuable industry knowledge and contribute to real-world infrastructure projects while building a strong foundation for a future career in engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the design and development of high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure projects.
Support the preparation of engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation.
Perform basic engineering calculations and technical analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
Assist with equipment research, specification development, and selection activities.
Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
Support protection and control, physical layout, and electrical system study activities.
Review technical specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
Assist project teams during engineering, procurement, and construction phases as needed.
Contribute to engineering quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Complete assigned technical tasks while gaining exposure to industry best practices and engineering processes.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferred standing as a Junior or Senior (3rd or 4th year student).
Basic understanding of power systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or other engineering design software is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
