Senior Backend Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer based in United States.
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will build the core infrastructure powering a liquidity orchestration and distribution network for tokenized assets. You’ll tackle complex backend systems spanning real-time pricing, routing, inventory management, settlement, and exchange infrastructure across multiple chains and venues. The role combines deep systems engineering with financial market structure, where correctness, performance, and reliability directly affect real-money transactions. You’ll own systems end to end, from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production operations. Working within a small engineering team, you’ll have significant influence over technical direction and product evolution. This is an opportunity to build financial infrastructure used by institutional counterparties while helping shape the next generation of onchain markets.
Accountabilities
Research, design, and build core services for a real-time RFQ orchestration engine, including pricing, quoting, routing, inventory management, and settlement across chains and venues.
Design and develop exchange infrastructure, including matching engines, pricing rules, order APIs, and onchain settlement systems.
Own backend systems throughout their full lifecycle, from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and on-call operations.
Develop rate-aware pricing and inventory controls for assets with dynamic market prices.
Integrate new blockchain networks, trading venues, solver networks, and liquidity sources while improving the efficiency and scalability of future integrations.
Build execution attribution and economic systems that support programmatic revenue sharing with integrators.
Work directly with onchain infrastructure, including smart contracts, mint and redemption facilities, and compliance mechanisms.
Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions within a small, high-impact engineering team.
Raise engineering standards through code reviews, technical guidance, mentorship, and strong engineering practices.
Requirements
6+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems, with demonstrated ownership of systems requiring high availability and reliability.
Proven experience taking systems from 0-to-1 through production hardening and ongoing operation.
Experience building systems where correctness and reliability have direct financial implications, such as exchange infrastructure, trading, settlement, or comparable financial systems.
Strong understanding of traditional financial market structure, including central limit order books, batch auctions, RFQs, and related economic, incentive, and technical considerations.
Strong backend systems design and development skills, with sound judgment around reliability, performance, latency, and scalability.
Ability to reason about inventory risk, execution quality, pricing decisions, and their commercial implications.
Experience at a market maker, exchange, trading firm, or similar financial infrastructure environment is a plus.
Experience with multi-chain infrastructure, particularly inventory or treasury management across blockchain networks, is preferred.
Familiarity with tokenized assets, stablecoins, or real-world assets is advantageous.
Understanding of onchain market structures such as AMMs, solver networks, DEX aggregators, and bridges is a plus.
Ability to read Solidity and understand smart contract interactions, even without direct smart contract development experience.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical and pricing decisions to both engineering and commercial stakeholders.
