Vice President of Engineering

Role Description The Vice President of Engineering at Alavancados: Bastidores do Mercado Financeiro is a full-time remote role responsible for leading the engineering organization and driving the technical vision that supports the company’s financial market products and services. This role oversees engineering teams, sets strategic priorities, and ensures delivery of high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing engineering roadmaps, collaborating with product and business stakeholders, establishing best practices for software development, and monitoring project execution and performance. The VP of Engineering will mentor engineering leaders, refine organizational structures, optimize processes for scalability and reliability, and promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability. Additional duties include budget planning for engineering, technology stack decisions, risk management, and aligning technical initiatives with regulatory and security requirements relevant to financial markets.
Qualifications
Strong engineering management skills, including experience structuring teams, defining processes, and overseeing technical execution.
Demonstrated team leadership capabilities, with a track record of coaching, developing, and retaining engineering talent in distributed or remote environments.
Hands-on background in software development, with familiarity across modern architectures, cloud platforms, and scalable systems.
Proficiency in project management, including planning, prioritization, risk mitigation, and delivering complex initiatives on time and within budget.
Experience in product development, collaborating closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into technical solutions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and present technical topics to non-technical audiences.
Proven experience in senior engineering leadership roles (e.g., Director, VP, Head of Engineering) in technology-driven organizations; fintech or financial markets experience is a plus.
Familiarity with security, compliance, and reliability standards applicable to financial technology platforms.
Ability to operate effectively in a remote-first environment, using digital tools to manage teams and projects across time zones.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree or equivalent practical experience is beneficial.
