We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team in Fargo, ND as a Mechanical Test Engineer. As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will:
Perform hands‑on lab work including test setup, execution, data acquisition, and teardown
Design and develops mechanical tests based on engineering test request requirements
Set up and remove test fixtures using cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment
Configure and operate data acquisition systems for component and system‑level testing
Build, install, and verify mechanical assemblies to ensure accurate and repeatable test conditions
Work closely with other engineers to translate test objectives into actionable procedures
Collect, analyze, and report test data to support engineering decisions and product improvements
Supports continuous improvement of test methods, instrumentation, and lab processes
Thrives in a hands‑on shop environment with daily mechanical work and equipment interaction
Role is well‑suited for someone eager to learn; on-the-job training can be provided
Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
Contribute to projects that impact communities in the greater Fargo-Moorhead metro

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag/Biosystems will also be considered
Strong mechanical aptitude with comfort working in a shop or lab environment
Experience with mechanical assembly, heavy equipment, ag machinery, or automotive systems helpful
Familiarity with engines, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, or component‑level testing beneficial
Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot data acquisition systems
Comfortable using cranes, forklifts, and other material‑handling equipment for test setup
Ability to follow engineering specifications and ensure precise, repeatable test conditions
Strong interest in learning new test methods, instrumentation, and engineering practices
Effective communication skills for documenting results and collaborating with engineers
Hands‑on technician or lab experience preferred, but motivated early‑career engineers encouraged to apply
Capable of working independently and as a team member
Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
Excellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindset
Curiosity, problem solving, and analytical thinking
Effective verbal and written communication
Desire to work on a variety of projects
ESTIMATED PAY RANGE
Engineer I: $34.62–$40.38/hour
Engineer II: $38.46–$44.23/hour
Engineer III: $43.27–$49.04/hour
Senior Engineer: $46.63–$53.85/hour
Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.
