We're seeking a passionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our growing Eatontown office. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in our newly renovated Eatontown location, with the flexibility to complete the remainder of your schedule remotely.
Our Outpatient Psychiatric Model
Serenium provides outpatient psychiatric care, allowing our providers to develop ongoing relationships with clients rather than focusing solely on short-term or episodic medication management.
Our goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that considers the whole person- not simply a diagnosis or a medication list. Our APNs/PMHNPs have the opportunity to collaborate directly with therapists and other clinicians, creating a truly integrated approach to mental health care.
Our typical appointment structure includes 45-minute initial psychiatric evaluations and 30-minute medication management follow-ups, giving providers dedicated time to understand the client, review their history and symptoms, discuss treatment options, and make thoughtful clinical decisions.
For full-time PMHNPs, our general scheduling goal is approximately 10–15 appointments per day, depending on the provider's specialty, caseload, appointment mix, and clinical needs. We recognize that psychiatric care involves much more than the time spent face-to-face with a client, which is why
administrative support and dedicated time for clinical documentation and other responsibilities are incorporated into the role.
Our goal is to balance access to care with a schedule that allows our providers to deliver safe, thorough, evidence-based psychiatric treatment.

What You'll Do
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Conduct psychiatric intake evaluations for prospective clients referred for admission based on the initial assessment and recommendations of the Clinical Director or Intake Specialist.
Provide medication management for children, adolescents, and/or adults based on your clinical expertise and scope of practice.
Complete 45-minute psychiatric evaluations and 30-minute medication follow-up appointments, allowing adequate time for thoughtful, client-centered care.
Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
Monitor treatment response, medication effectiveness, and potential adverse effects.
Educate clients regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
Collaborate closely with therapists and other members of our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, integrated care.
Utilize pharmacogenomic testing (GeneSight) and third-party drug screening services when clinically appropriate to support informed treatment decisions.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
Participate in weekly individual supervision, group consultation, and interdisciplinary case discussions.
Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Who You Are
Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Licensed or eligible for licensure in New Jersey.
Passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate psychiatric care.
A collaborative clinician who enjoys working alongside therapists and other providers.
Comfortable treating a diverse outpatient population.
Excellent communicator with strong clinical judgment and organizational skills.

Our model is therapy-first: clients receiving psychiatric services at Serenium are also connected with an individual therapist as part of their care. Our PMHNPs work closely with our therapists as an integrated clinical team, allowing medication management and psychotherapy to complement one another. We do not operate as a medication-management-only practice.
If a client is ultimately appropriate for medication management without ongoing therapy, this transition would be considered collaboratively and require agreement between the treating therapist and APN/PMHNP, based on the client's clinical needs and treatment goals.
We believe psychiatric care is most effective when providers have access to therapists, clinical leadership, supervision, consultation, and administrative support so they can focus on what they do best: providing excellent psychiatric care.
