Heavy Duty Mechanic

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Caterpillar heavy-duty mining equipment, including 740/777/785 haul trucks, 6030/6020 shovels, D9/D6 dozers, and 980/993 wheel loaders. The role involves servicing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mining equipment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty mining equipment, including engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, brakes, and air-conditioning systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions and carry out appropriate repairs.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance, including lubrication, greasing, filter replacement, and component checks, to ensure safe and reliable equipment performance.
Repair and replace defective components and systems, including electrical controls, batteries, alternators, starters, wiring, hydraulic lines, drive shafts, differentials, and computer-controlled systems.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders, document repairs and diagnostic hours, and communicate repair recommendations or improvement opportunities to the Foreman.
