Director, US Accounting Operations

We’re looking for a Director, US Accounting Ops to join our team in Denver.

As Director, US Accounting Operations, you will establish, lead and scale Liberty Blume’s US-based accounting operations from our Denver offices. You will initially be responsible for building a team that will be accountable for delivering high-quality accounting and reporting services as our US presence grows.
This role combines leadership with customer delivery, operational build-out and transformation. You will own the US accounting service from transition and mobilisation through to day-to-day delivery, ensuring our customers receive the service they require.
You will be a key member of the Accounting Operations leadership team, partnering with senior customer and internal stakeholders to shape a scalable US platform built on standardisation, simplification, innovative technology and service management.
While building and leading the US-based team, the role will lead the transfer of knowledge, processes and operational expertise from the UK organisation, ensuring alignment of ways of working and will leverage available capacity to support existing UK operations during the US operation’s ramp-up period.
What will you be doing?
Setup and expand the US based accounting operations teams providing services to our customers, including recruiting, onboarding, coaching and developing a high-performing team and expanding capacity in line with customer growth and service demand
Manage operational delivery that exceeds contractual and customer expectations and creates a culture of customer focus
Manage key US based customer relationships at an operational level, typically CFO or VP level, to build trusted relationships
Balance service quality, control, scalability and cost, escalating trade-offs and investment needs with clear recommendations
Instill a culture of continuous improvement and innovation into the teams to drive simplication and automation while preserving high levels of service quality
Work closely with Technology and Transformation teams to enable technology led service improvements
Lead a developing service to grow and scale in a new market
Ensure the operating model addresses relevant US requirements and local complexities
Work with Commercial leaders to identify opportunities to broaden services, improve customer outcomes and support growth
Ensure each transition protects business continuity, knowledge transfer, control integrity and reporting quality before moving into business-as-usual delivery
Lead the accounting workstreams for new US customer pursuits, due diligence, solution design, transition and mobilisation.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Deep experience working with or inside complex finance organizations
Track record of improving service quality in an operationally focused environment

Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong customer and stakeholder leadership, with the judgement and credibility to influence senior finance executives and resolve escalated issues.
Proven experience transitioning and onboarding accounting services or customers, with accountability for mobilisation and stable business-as-usual delivery.
Strong knowledge of internal control over financial reporting and SOX requirements, including control design, documentation, audit support and remediation.
Deep, current knowledge of US GAAP and experience applying technical accounting judgement to complex transactions and reporting matters.
Significant progressive experience leading accounting functions
Active CPA licence, or equivalent accounting qualification with substantial US accounting leadership experience
DESIRABLE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Big Four or other major public accounting experience.
Experience in a technology-enabled managed services, shared services or outsourcing environment.
Experience supporting SEC registrants, public-company reporting or multinational groups reporting under both US GAAP and IFRS.
Knowledge of revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, foreign currency, intercompany accounting and other accounting areas relevant to complex service organisations.
Experience with ERP transformation, workflow automation, data analytics and AI-enabled finance processes.
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.

The base salary range is $137,600 - $172,000 based on the level of experience
