Job Summary:
This is hourly paid work assisting in educational instruction and testing duties. Positions in this job are established for less than 9 months or are scheduled for less than 30 hours per week and are not eligible for benefits.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment
Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas
Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets drawings, and similar handouts
Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing
Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts
Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials
Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials
Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures
Participate in professional growth activities
Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution preferred
Experience working with at risk youth
Experience as a teacher's aide or office clerk
Paraprofessional certification
