Job Description
Engineering Team Leader, Industrial IoT & Digital Solutions
Lead and develop an engineering team made up of junior and senior engineers in the development of Industrial IoT, Edge Computing, Cloud Connectivity, Data Analytics, and Digital Solutions for Husky products and customer operations. Focus on innovation, scalability, cybersecurity, reliability, risk mitigation, and customer satisfaction while enabling data-driven manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Key Responsibilities / Areas Of Accountability
Lead, manage, and develop the team, which includes but is not limited to coaching, mentoring, technical leadership, and cross-training.
Oversee the design, development, deployment, and lifecycle management of Industrial IoT platforms, edge devices, cloud applications, and connected customer solutions.
Ensure the team is effective in delivering scalable digital products and services that meet business and customer requirements and are aligned with product strategy and the Husky Operating Model.
Plan and schedule development activities to ensure committed project milestones and release dates are achieved.
Enforce Product Development Processes, cybersecurity standards, software quality requirements, architecture governance, and risk mitigation practices.
Participate in and lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, design reviews, and executive updates to ensure implementation of high-quality digital solutions with stakeholder transparency.
Influence and establish engineering standards, best practices, frameworks, and tools related to Industrial IoT, cloud computing, software engineering, and data platforms.
Encourage team members to think, organize, innovate, and lead while providing career development opportunities and technical growth.
Lead effective cross-disciplinary collaboration with Product Management, Software, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, IT, Cybersecurity, and Customer Success teams.
Drive the development and adoption of edge-to-cloud architectures, industrial communications, device management, remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data analytics solutions.
Support customer deployments and operational excellence initiatives through digital solutions that improve machine performance, uptime, quality, and operational visibility.
Promote a culture of innovation, technical excellence, DevOps practices, cybersecurity awareness, and data-driven decision making.
Critical Capabilities And Qualifications
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a high-performing technical team.
Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
System-level thinking at both product and enterprise levels.
Strong understanding of Industrial IoT architectures, edge computing, cloud platforms, and distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, system integration, and modern development methodologies.
Experience with industrial communications and protocols including OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and related technologies.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or equivalent.
Experience with IoT device management, telemetry collection, data pipelines, analytics platforms, and monitoring solutions.
Understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure software development practices, and industrial network security.
Experience with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, source control systems, and agile development methodologies.
Demonstrates a high degree of flexibility and adaptability while embracing changing priorities.
Knowledge of Husky products, manufacturing processes, tools, standards, and technologies is an asset.
Experience with Edge Computing, AI/ML applications, predictive analytics, digital twins, and Industry 4.0 initiatives is an asset.
Experience facilitating cybersecurity, safety, or technology risk assessments is an asset.
Relevant cloud, cybersecurity, or industrial automation certifications are considered an asset.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university.
Experience
10+ years of relevant engineering experience in Industrial IoT, software development, industrial automation, connected products, or digital solutions.
Proven leadership experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience delivering enterprise-scale software, cloud, or Industrial IoT solutions from concept through deployment.
Experience in manufacturing, automation, machinery, packaging, injection molding, or industrial technology industries is an asset.
Experience managing globally distributed engineering teams and collaborating across multiple functional disciplines is an asset.
