Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director of Prospect Development and Information Systems, and in continuous collaboration with foundation staff, the Research Analyst works to provide prospect research support, monitor data quality, track prospect activity, and ensure critical prospect and donor datapoints are captured in the CRM.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
Prospect Identification
Work closely with the Senior Director to proactively plan and execute strategies to identify sources of major, principal, institutional, and planned gifts.
Help develop and execute strategies to ensure that newly identified prospects are presented and assigned to appropriate fundraisers in a timely manner.
Prospect Research
In collaboration with Director, Prospect Development
Validate and analyze wealth screening results and use them to segment prospects, create reports, and inform follow-up strategies
Research gift prospects on a reactive and proactive basis and make appropriate assignment recommendations to gift officers.
Compose prospect research documents (profiles, bios, event briefings).
Capture and input prospect information into CRM, ensuring its accessibility to fundraising staff for future cultivation strategies.
Data Quality and Analysis
Work closely with the Gift Processing Manager to update and maintain accurate constituent records in CRM.
Participate in design and testing of reports and views of fundraising information
Perform regular audits to maintain data quality.
Plan and execute data clean up and enhancement projects.
Moves Management
Maintain, update, and administer moves/portfolio management system to drive identification, cultivation, and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects.
Serve as central hub for prospect assignments, qualifications/disqualifications, and proposal tracking.
Create and maintain documentation of Standard Operating Procedures.
Provide user support to frontline fundraisers to ensure procedures are being followed.
Provide support for prospect strategy meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements For Success
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. At least five years of experience in Development in a non-profit and/or educational institution.
At least five years of experience in prospect development or related functions that support major gift fundraising.
Understanding fundraising practices with an emphasis on the donor relationship cycle and fundamentals of prospect development.
Ability to identify and prioritize prospects for major/principal/institutional giving and planned giving.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize data as well as try new approaches and explore new sources.
Ability to proactively organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals and deadlines are met.
Consistently demonstrate respect for inclusion, diversity, and ethics.
Knowledge of ethics statements by Apra, AFP, and other related associations.
Meticulous attention to detail, particularly with names, financial data, and biographical details. Ability to double-check one’s own work for accuracy and quality.
Strong commitment to confidentiality, and the ability to use discretion while dealing with sensitive information.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Proficiency using research databases such as Lexis-Nexis for Development Professionals, DonorSearch, WealthEngine, iWave, RelSci, WealthX, Foundation Center, etc.
Experience and comfort working with donor CRMs (Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, etc.)
Preferred skills: proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau); advanced Excel skills
The base pay range for this position at the beginning of employment is expected to be between $80,000/year and $90,000/year. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements for eligible employees, including: (i) eligibility for discretionary bonuses; (ii) various insurance options, including medical, dental, vision, hearing, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability, and business travel accident insurance; (iii) identity protection program; (iv) employee assistance program; (v) financial and retirement savings benefits including the PBS Retirement Plan 403(b); (vi) paid time off (17 days per year), paid sick time benefits (12 days per year), paid parental leave (60 days / 12 weeks ), and paid holidays (12 days per year).
