RF Engineer - Fixed Wireless Access

1. Designs and develops Radio Frequency (RF) systems and subsystems, ensuring they meet specified requirements and industry standards. Provides technical support to customers and collaborates with cross functional teams to integrate RF solutions into larger systems.
Standards
Designs and optimizes Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) networks using Tarana G1/G2 or similar next-generation wireless platforms.
Performs RF planning, link budge analysis, and propagation modeling for access and backhaul layers.
Engineers point-to-multipoint (PMP) access networks and point-to-point (PTP) microwave backhaul solutions using Aviat equipment.
Designs and deploys Aviat microwave systems, including frequency planning, channel selection, and interference mitigation.
2. Defines and implements RF Engineering standards and best practices for FWA to advance and scale company FW initiative.
Standards
Conducts site surveys and path analysis for microwave links, including LOS/NLOS assessments and fade margin calculations.
Configures, tests and commissions Tarana base nodes and remote nodes, ensuring optimal deployment performance.
Analyzes network KPI’s (throughput, latency, SINR, packet loss) and recommends improvements.
Utilizes RF tools (e.g., Pathloss, Atoll, iBwave, Siradel, Google Earth, Aviat Design Tools, Tarana Cloud Suite, cnHeat, Federated Wireless SAS, etc.) for planning and optimization.
Troubleshoots RF issues across both access and backhaul layers, including interference, alignment, and capacity constraints.
Supports field deployment teams with antenna alignment, spectrum analysis, and system turnup.
Ensures compliance with FCC regulations, spectrum licensing and safety standards.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams including construction, transport engineering, IT, and operations to deliver network builds on schedule.
3. Analyzes and optimizes existing wireless networks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Maintains detailed documentation of RF design specifications, procedures and test results. Troubleshoots RF Network for interference, noise, distortion, or signal loss issues to improve signal strength and quality.

4. Presents a courteous, well-groomed and professional image to customers, managers, co-workers and others in work-related situations.
5. Follows all company and safety policies and procedures outlined in the GPC Employee Handbook and Policy Manual. Corrects or reports unsafe or hazardous working conditions.

Ensures contractors comply with GPC safety standards, wear safety equipment, and use warning signs to protect themselves and the traveling public from accidents.
Ensures team members are inspecting their vehicles and following all GPC practices.
Reports/leaves work according to department policy.
Ensures all reports (time sheets, expenses, etc.) are forwarded to manager as scheduled.
Performs self-inspections of the workplace and work habits daily.
Maintains buildings, vehicles, and GPC property to ensure safety and appearance.
Corrects or reports unsafe or hazardous working conditions.
Wear personal protective equipment as required.
Notifies Safety Coordinator of updates for on-line MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).
6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
