Job Description:
Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
Provides general pediatric care to hospitalized pediatric patients, and performs procedures in the inpatient setting. Serves as the patient's primary physician during patient hospitalization. Provides pediatric consultation to the ED and for surgical patients.
Principle Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care for pediatric patients in a hospital setting.
Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
Provides pediatric consultation for ED and surgical patients.
Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
Actively participates in multidisciplinary approach to case management.
May perform procedures such as circumcisions in the newborn nursery and the NICU.
Rounding on newborns - shifts are 7 am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am
Attend deliveries where newborn resuscitation is anticipated
Inpatient care for sick newborns until stabilized, transfer sick newborns as needed
Quality.
Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or workflows.
May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Pediatrics
Licenses/Certifications
Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required
ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required
PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or in Pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics within 1 Year required
Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required
Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required
National Provider Identifier upon hire required
Physical Demands
Medium Work*:
Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently
Pay Range
Flat Rate: $130.00 per hour
*This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
