The Opportunity
The University of Southern California (USC) seeks a seasoned and forward-thinking advancement executive to serve as Associate Senior Vice President, Advancement Services and Business Intelligence, a senior executive leadership role within University Advancement responsible for strengthening the operational foundation of USC’s university-wide fundraising, engagement, and stewardship enterprise.
USC Advancement encompasses a community of approximately 500 professionals across University Advancement and USC’s schools and units who combine their talents, drive, and experience to advance the university’s multifaceted mission. Together, these professionals strengthen philanthropy, engagement, and the relationships that support USC’s priorities.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and serving as a member of the University Advancement senior leadership team, the Associate Senior Vice President will be a strategic partner to the SVP and an enterprise leader across advancement services, business operations, information management, data and analytics, technology strategy, governance, and resource planning. The ASVP will lead through both direct organizational authority and influence—building alignment across University Advancement, schools, units, and university partners around shared standards, priorities, and enterprise solutions.
The ASVP will establish long-term strategic direction while leading multiple organizational functions through senior leaders, modernizing advancement operations, strengthening organizational effectiveness, and ensuring that data, technology, resources, and business processes remain aligned with the needs of a sophisticated, decentralized fundraising organization.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Operations & Advancement Services
Provide executive leadership for advancement services, business operations, information management, and the infrastructure supporting fundraising, donor stewardship, and alumni engagement.
Establish enterprise governance, policies, operational standards, and service strategies that strengthen data integrity, compliance, risk management, accountability, and organizational alignment.
Lead multiple functions through senior leaders while building alignment across University Advancement, schools, units, and university partners through collaboration, influence, and shared governance.
Advancement Strategy, Operations & Organizational Effectiveness
Lead long-term business transformation strategies that modernize advancement operations, improve service delivery, and support evolving institutional priorities.
Evaluate organizational performance, business processes, and operating practices to identify opportunities for greater effectiveness, efficiency, integration, and scalability.
Partner across USC to translate institutional priorities into integrated operational strategies, organizational capabilities, and measurable outcomes.
Data, Analytics & Information Governance
Provide executive oversight of advancement information, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities that support strategic planning, resource allocation, fundraising effectiveness, and leadership decision-making.
Establish data governance and information stewardship practices that promote data integrity, appropriate access, compliance, risk management, and accountability.
Champion the use of analytics and business intelligence to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and inform strategic and operational decisions.
Technology Strategy & Modernization
Guide the advancement technology portfolio, aligning technology investments with organizational objectives, business processes, and constituent engagement needs.
Partner with technology and business leaders to integrate advancement services, technology, analytics, and operations and lead enterprise modernization and transformation initiatives.
Executive Leadership & Resource Stewardship
Direct financial planning, resource stewardship, and organizational prioritization across a complex portfolio of advancement service functions.
Lead and develop teams through senior leaders, establishing priorities, strengthening organizational capabilities, and fostering accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
Build strong partnerships across USC to advance shared priorities and strengthen the effectiveness of the broader advancement enterprise.
The Impact
The Associate Senior Vice President will shape the operating foundation of USC Advancement.
Through enterprise leadership of advancement services, business operations, data and analytics, information management, technology strategy, governance, and organizational resources, the ASVP will help ensure that USC’s advancement community has the infrastructure and capabilities required to support increasingly sophisticated fundraising, stewardship, and engagement strategies.
The ASVP will be accountable not only for the performance of the functions within their portfolio, but also for building alignment across the broader advancement enterprise. They will be creating a more integrated, responsive, data-informed, and service-oriented environment positioned to support USC’s long-term philanthropic ambitions.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. Combined experience and education may substitute for the minimum education requirement.
Twelve years of progressively responsible experience in advancement operations, development services, business operations, strategic planning, information management, technology strategy, finance, analytics, or a related field.
Ten years of management experience leading multiple functions, departments, or large organizational teams with enterprise-level scope and impact.
Expert knowledge of advancement services, fundraising operations, constituent data management, and organizational governance practices.
Strong knowledge of enterprise business transformation, operational modernization, and organizational effectiveness strategies.
Knowledge of data governance, information stewardship, compliance frameworks, and risk management principles.
Demonstrated ability to establish long-term strategic direction and translate institutional priorities into operational outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to lead multiple organizational functions through senior leaders and build alignment through influence across a complex, decentralized operating environment.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate organizational performance and guide decisions using analytics, reporting, and business intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Higher Education, Information Systems Management, Finance, or a related field.
Fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in advancement operations, development services, business operations, strategic planning, information management, technology strategy, finance, analytics, or a related field.
Twelve years of management experience leading multiple functions, departments, or large organizational teams with enterprise-level scope and impact.
Knowledge of advancement operations within a research-intensive higher education environment.
Demonstrated experience integrating advancement services, technology, analytics, and business operations within a unified operating model.
Knowledge of philanthropy operations, donor stewardship practices, campaign infrastructure, and prospect management methodologies.
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology modernization and organizational transformation initiatives.
