Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is an innovative healthcare organization dedicated to transforming patient care and operational efficiency through advanced technology. We are seeking five motivated students to join our Innovation & Development Team.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple facets in a corporate IT department. You will work alongside experienced IT professionals, contribute to real world projects, and develop skills that are essential for a successful career in Information Technology in the following areas:
Cyber Security
Data Science
Healthcare Technology
Networking and Server Engineering
Software Development
The program duration is scheduled for 10-12 weeks, during the months of June, July and August of 2027. The positions are in offices at our Flowood, Mississippi campus and are paid.
What You’ll Do:
Assist in maintaining and improving IT systems, including hardware, software, and networks.
Support the implementation and monitoring of information security protocols to protect sensitive data.
Participate in system programming projects, including coding, debugging, and testing applications.
Help troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for end-users and internal systems.
Collaborate with team members on IT projects, including network configuration and infrastructure upgrades.
Conduct research and provide recommendations for new technologies and tools.
Document IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
Job-Specific Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields with at least a Junior level academic standing by the end of Spring 2027.
GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
Basic understanding of Technology concepts, including data, networking, programming, and/or cybersecurity principles.
Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or C++) and operating systems (Windows, Linux, or macOS).
Preferred Qualifications:
Enrolled in a Mississippi based College or University or Mississippi resident.

Manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Write concise messages, draft simple guides and communicate clearly in written form.
Listen closely during instructions, paying full attention to the speaker and ask clarifying questions before attempting to solve problems or provide feedback.
