Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power System Engineer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing power system engineering projects while providing technical guidance and ensuring successful project execution. The role requires a blend of strong power system analysis expertise and project management capabilities to deliver high-quality solutions to clients in the power generation, transmission, and distribution sectors.
As a Lead Power System Engineer, you will oversee project lifecycles from project initiation, technical planning, resource coordination, engineering execution, customer engagement, and final delivery. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet customer expectations, technical standards, quality requirements, budget targets, and delivery schedules.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and manage power system engineering projects from proposal stage through execution and final delivery.
Coordinate with customers, project stakeholders, and internal engineering teams to gather technical requirements and define project scope.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, resource allocation plans, risk registers, and delivery milestones.
Review and guide the development of power system models and simulation studies including:
Load Flow Studies
Short Circuit Studies
Protection Coordination Studies
Arc Flash Studies
Dynamic and Stability Studies
Reactive Power Compensation Studies
Ensure proper sizing and selection of key electrical assets including transformers, switchgear, cables, protection systems, and other power system components.
Monitor project progress, identify technical and execution risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery.
Collaborate with global engineering teams, vendors, and customers to resolve technical challenges and drive project outcomes.
Prepare and review technical reports, engineering deliverables, project status reports, and customer presentations.
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, grid codes, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, engineering best practices, and process standardization within the Power Systems team.
Support business development activities through technical discussions, proposal preparation, effort estimation, and solution presentations.
Maintain project quality, budget adherence, schedule compliance, and customer satisfaction throughout project execution.
Essential Qualifications
M.E./M.Tech/M.S. in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field.
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of power system studies, protection systems, network planning, and electrical system operations.
Experience working on engineering projects involving power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
Hands-on experience with power system software tools such as:
ETAP
DIgSILENT PowerFactory
PSS®E
SKM
PSCAD or equivalent tools
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong project management, planning, scheduling, and risk management skills.
Excellent communication, presentation, customer-facing, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to lead technical reviews and guide engineering teams toward successful project execution.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance technical requirements, project timelines, and business priorities.
Desirable Qualification
An additional advantage will be conferred to candidates with relevant experience.
Proficient in utilizing data analysis and modeling tools such as Excel, Python, and R.
Acquaintance with regulatory frameworks, grid codes, and reliability standards influencing the power system.
Demonstrated success in applying innovative approaches to tackle intricate challenges within the power system.
Research publications in reputed conferences/journals.
