Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining production machinery used in the manufacturing of advanced materials. This role ensures consistent product quality, accurate documentation, and efficient material flow throughout the production process. The operator follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality guidelines, and safety protocols to meet internal and external customer requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate production machinery such as rolling mills, traverse winders, annealing furnaces, drawing equipment, and related material‑processing machines.
Perform minor machine setup, adjustments, and changeovers to support scheduled production activities.
Monitor equipment operation and material flow, identifying and reporting issues to supervisors promptly.
Conduct routine quality inspections to verify product dimensions, surface finish, cleanliness, and overall conformity to specifications.
Maintain accurate production records, operating data, scrap documentation, and material identification. Must be able to collect and interpret defect data.
Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure products meet tight tolerances (.0001).
Maneuver hoists, cranes, and forklifts to safely transport raw materials, tooling, and finished goods.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and in compliance with housekeeping and “lean” manufacturing expectations.
Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards to maintain safe and consistent production flow.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications / Skills
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to complete required on‑the‑job training to become fully qualified.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, customer specifications, and production instructions.
Proficiency using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, and basic inspection devices.
Basic computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office and email systems.
Mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills required for troubleshooting and minor machine adjustments.

Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to use weights and measurements and apply basic mathematical skills.
High degree of alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Regularly required to stand for extended periods and use hands to handle or adjust tools, materials, and machinery.
Regularly lift and move up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting above 40 pounds with assistance.
Requires sustained visual and mental concentration while performing inspections, data entry, and machine monitoring.
Work performed in a clean‑room controlled atmosphere with minimal noise levels.
Must wear appropriate protective equipment as required (e.g., gloves, finger cots).
Pay Range:
$23.99-$29.39
Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
