We are looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer II to join our team!
As a Systems Engineer II, you will contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of cutting-edge instrumentation as part of our systems engineering team.
This is a full time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location.
How You’ll Contribute
Execute end-to-end development including planning, development, optimization, and testing of workflows for life science automation and liquid handling systems. Own workflow from concept to customer delivery
Collaborate with hardware and software development engineers to implement improvements in automation process efficiency and reliability
Operate, troubleshoot and customize hardware and software components
Interface with stakeholders to collect and define requirements, and provide user training and documentation
Work with Chemistry and Biology teams to translate and optimize manual lab processes on automated machines

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Chemistry or closely related field
2+ years of relevant experience
Experience in the development of scientific instruments from a systems integration perspective is strongly preferred
Basic understanding of molecular biology, genomics, and other standard life science lab workflows and equipment
Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python
Meticulous and detail oriented with a hands-on approach to work
Ability to define and follow complex operating procedures
Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills

At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $100,000 and $120,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
