Technical Specialist 4

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Technical Specialist 4. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, distribution line design experience, and excellent communication skills. This position is based on our Distribution group in Tampa, Florida. This position can be remote.
Essential Job Duties
Design and permit distribution lines, including drawing preparation, bill of materials development, material ordering, and conducting field visits.
Ability to conduct field visits and use information to create drawings.
Utilize various software to create overhead and underground electrical distribution designs.
Follow local utility and construction standards.
Ability to learn, retain and apply on the job training and use design software packages efficiently
Ability to work effectively in design teams.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel Details
Minimal travel required for site vists (5%-30%)

Education
B.S. Engineering or other technical degree
Certification/Licensure
Driver’s License required
Technical Responsibilities
Supports design of complete project, system, component, or process.
Frequently supports preparation of complete plans, specifications, and other project documents.
Supports designs and conducts analyses and interprets test data.
Project and Task Management
Assigns tasks to and directs other technical and non-technical staff.
Frequently plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work.
Frequently prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects.
Management Responsibility
Receives general direction on key objectives. Receives guidance, when necessary, on unconventional/complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
Assists with mentored experience to direct reports and junior staff through providing guidance, explaining professional responsibilities, and reviewing work products.
Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
Communication Skills
Communicates effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
