Cannistraro is looking for an experienced Special Hazards Outside Sales Representative to help grow our Special Hazards business. This is an opportunity to combine your fire protection expertise with your ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, and develop solutions for customers with complex fire protection needs.
You’ll work with customers, engineers, contractors, facility owners, and industry partners across specialized environments such as data centers, manufacturing facilities, healthcare facilities, laboratories, museums, and energy facilities.
This is a true business development role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting out in the market, building relationships, creating opportunities, and staying involved from the initial conversation through project award.
What You’ll Do
Develop new customer relationships and identify opportunities for Special Hazards systems and services.
Build relationships with general contractors, facility owners, engineers, end users, fire protection contractors, and other industry partners.
Generate new opportunities through networking, targeted outreach, existing customers, manufacturer relationships, and market research.
Meet with customers and visit project sites to understand their needs and identify potential solutions.
Review drawings, specifications, inspection reports, and customer requirements to help develop appropriate solutions.
Work with estimating and engineering to develop budgets, proposals, scopes of work, and bids.
Follow opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and award.
Partner with project management and field operations to ensure a smooth transition from sale to project execution.
Identify opportunities for recurring inspection, testing, maintenance, service agreements, and system upgrades.
Develop relationships with manufacturers and technology partners and stay informed about new products and solutions.
Represent Cannistraro at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and manufacturer events.
Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information and consistently follow up on active pursuits.
Work toward established sales and business development goals.
What You Bring
10+ years of experience in the fire protection industry.
Experience selling fire protection systems, inspections, service agreements, suppression solutions, or related services.
A track record of developing new business and building lasting customer relationships.
Strong understanding of Special Hazards fire protection systems and solutions.
Ability to understand and discuss drawings, specifications, inspection reports, and technical requirements.
Familiarity with NFPA, FM Global, UL, and other applicable fire protection standards.
Experience with industrial, commercial, healthcare, mission-critical, or other specialized facilities is a plus.
Strong communication, presentation, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with estimating, engineering, project management, and operations.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities at different stages.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to customer and project sites.
Trade school certificate, associate degree, or equivalent experience in fire protection, mechanical systems, construction, or a related field.
