Plant 3D Piping Designer – 6-Month Contract

Princetech Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Plant 3D Piping Designer for a 6-month contract position. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and modeling piping systems for industrial and manufacturing plants using advanced 3D modeling software.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D, piping design, 3D plant modeling, and preparation of piping deliverables. This role will work closely with engineering and design teams to develop accurate, efficient, and constructible piping layouts that meet project specifications and applicable industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Create and modify detailed 3D piping models and layouts using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or similar software.
Design piping systems for industrial and manufacturing plant processes.
Develop and modify piping drawings, including isometrics, spools, layouts, and material specifications.
Review project requirements and incorporate design changes to meet client and project specifications.
Generate BOMs (Bills of Materials), piping schedules, and other project deliverables.
Collaborate with engineers to optimize piping layouts and resolve design issues.
Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, and other disciplines.
Perform 3D model coordination and clash detection and resolve design conflicts.
Ensure piping designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
Assist with design reviews, project documentation, and technical reports.
Provide design support during the construction phase and address field-related design questions as required.
Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Drafting/Design, or a related field preferred.
2–3+ years of experience in piping design using 3D modeling software.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
Experience with 3D plant modeling and piping layout development.
Strong understanding of piping design principles, materials, and industry practices.
Knowledge of applicable piping codes and standards, including ASME and ANSI.
Experience creating piping isometrics and working with P&IDs.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively with engineering and multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Plant 3D project setup, specifications, catalogs, and modeling workflows.
Experience with clash detection and multidisciplinary model coordination.
Familiarity with BIM and 3D plant design workflows.
Knowledge of process plant layout and industrial piping systems.
Experience working with engineering standards and piping specifications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
