Role Description The Designer Garments role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gurugram. This role involves designing seasonal collections for outerwear and ready-to-wear categories, translating brand concepts and market trends into commercially viable garments. The designer will create sketches, technical packs, and fabric/trim boards, collaborate closely with product development, sampling, and production teams, and ensure designs align with brand aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability standards. Daily responsibilities include researching global fashion trends, selecting fabrics and washes, coordinating with pattern makers and merchandisers, reviewing fit and construction, and participating in design presentations to internal stakeholders and clients. The role also includes maintaining design documentation, meeting collection calendars, and supporting continuous improvement in design quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong fashion design and garment construction skills, including sketching, draping, and understanding of pattern making and fit with 5 plus years of experience.
Candidates should possess expertise in fabric, trims, and surface techniques, including knitwear, dyeing, printing, embroidery, and wash effects for outerwear and ready-to-wear.
Candidates should possess competency in design and technical tools such as Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, CAD software, and basic tech pack creation.
Candidates should possess skills in trend research, market analysis, and collection planning, with the ability to interpret brand direction into cohesive ranges.
Candidates should possess strong collaboration, communication, and time-management skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and meet tight deadlines.
Relevant qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline from a recognized institute is preferred.
Experience in export-oriented apparel manufacturing, outerwear, or working with international fashion brands is highly beneficial.
Awareness of sustainable materials, ethical production practices, and industry certifications is an advantage.
