Job Description
Administrative Faculty Contract. Non Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible - This position is funded through 6/30/2027. Employment is contingent upon continued funding. The position is being filled through an emergency appointment. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements.
The Laboratory Operations Coordinator provides laboratory support to the Division of Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS). The Coordinator assists faculty in the prepping of student labs, creation of various lab kit supply lists; creates lab kits for distribution to students; and maintains lab operations with consistent, quality, and timely support of the division for safe and state of the art laboratory learning environments.
The Coordinator also supports staff and faculty training and participates in regular upkeep, upgrades, and preventative maintenance of highly technical specialized equipment; provides accounting, procurement, and budgeting support for LAS laboratories including providing technical accounting support and budget
tracking for multiple accounts that include state appropriations and grants; and completes procurement, receipt, storage, issuing, shipment, and maintenance of control records for the LAS laboratory property and equipment.
Ability to travel to assigned locations is required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lab Operations, Equipment Maintenance & Storage
Work with Director and faculty to schedule technology and simulation updates, faculty training, and updates to equipment
Oversee maintenance of lab equipment, facilities and simulation equipment/technology to include developing/implementing a preventative maintenance schedule and, as needed, performing institutional level maintenance
Troubleshoots equipment and facility issues and prepares equipment for disposal
Submits requests for purchase/repair and maintains a supply of replacement parts
Manage/coordinate/perform clerical and lab housekeeping duties, including scheduling laundry pickup/delivery and hazardous waste
Ensures all lab environments are clean and organized
Assists LAS laboratory students with policies and inquiries to understand laboratory standards, requirements and processes
Assists lab occupants to understand lab rules & compliance, maintain a clean & secure lab environment
Assists faculty & students with use of lab equipment, technology, supplies and simulation equipment
Supports faculty to ensure proper supplies and equipment are available for lab experience and labs are appropriately set up each week
Supervises lab staff and student workers at each or the WNC campus laboratories; assigning work and ensuring completion
Maintains and shares with division a master lab schedule that incorporates student and faculty requests and meets LAS Division needs
