The Role
The Security Solutions Architect is a senior-level member of Lumen’s Technology Architecture organization responsible for providing expert security advisory services and architecting complex cybersecurity solutions for enterprise customers. This highly visible role requires a consultative mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and deep technical expertise across multiple security domains.
The ideal candidate can translate complex business and security requirements into scalable, customer-focused security solutions while partnering with sales, engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders. This individual will serve as a trusted security advisor, helping customers navigate evolving cybersecurity challenges while shaping strategic security offerings and architectures.
The Main Responsibilities
Transform customer security requirements into clear, documented, and scalable security solutions and architectures.
Lead security solution development for strategic initiatives, complex engagements, and high-visibility opportunities.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build consensus on technical approaches, architectures, and solution strategies.
Architect, package, and position managed and professional security services while maintaining consistent messaging throughout the customer lifecycle.
Develop architectural diagrams, solution designs, statements of work, presentations, business justifications, pricing support, and customer-facing security collateral.
Provide thought leadership across cybersecurity domains and contribute to the development of new security services and offerings.
Present security strategies and technical recommendations to executive leadership, security teams, and technical audiences.
What We Look For In a Candidate
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience as an information security professional.
Experience leading complex security solutioning engagements and gathering, documenting, and tracing security requirements.Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, cloud technologies, DevOps environments, and security platforms.
Working knowledge across multiple security disciplines, including Managed EDR, Managed SIEM, SOC Services, DDoS Mitigation, SASE, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, Data Protection, Security Awareness, and Security Strategy & Architecture.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, customer stakeholders, security professionals, and technical teams.Experience creating and positioning security services, solution designs, and customer-focused security deliverables.Must possess at least one of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, GSEC, or equivalent industry-recognized security certification.
Preferred
Experience developing and packaging managed security service offerings for enterprise customers.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise, state, local government, or federal customer environments.
Strong technical writing skills with experience producing whitepapers, security strategy documents, and executive presentations.
Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and communicate business value clearly to non-technical audiences.
Experience operating across customer engagement, solution development, sales support, and service delivery functions.
Passion for cybersecurity innovation and continuous learning across emerging security technologies.
Willingness and ability to travel in support of customer meetings, presentations, conferences, and business engagements.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
