Role Description This is a part-time, remote role for Business News Correspondents. In this position, you will monitor business and economic developments across African markets, pitch story ideas, and produce timely, well-researched news articles and analytical pieces. You will conduct interviews with key stakeholders such as business leaders, policymakers, and subject matter experts, and collaborate with editors to refine story angles and ensure clarity, accuracy, and balance. Correspondents will also verify facts, interpret data, and, where relevant, contribute to multimedia storytelling through basic audio, video, or visual elements. You will work closely with the broader editorial team to align coverage with Sable Africa’s standards and mission, while managing deadlines and maintaining a consistent output of publishable content.
Qualifications
Strong news writing and general writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate business journalism.
Editorial and research skills, including story development, fact-checking, and sourcing from credible data and expert commentary.
Multimedia capabilities, such as basic audio, video, or visual content creation to support digital publication.
Knowledge of African business and economic landscapes, or strong interest and willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
Excellent command of English and strong communication skills; additional African or international languages are an advantage.
Prior experience in journalism, business reporting, or related fields is preferred but not strictly required.
Relevant academic background in journalism, economics, business, international relations, or similar disciplines is beneficial.
