The Position:
In line with Redeemer’s 2035 vision for enrolment growth, the Director, Admissions is responsible for leading and implementing recruitment strategies to attract and enrol students into undergraduate, certificate and graduate programs as well as microcredentials. This role is uniquely positioned to lead the annual recruitment plan and the campus events strategy. The Director, Admissions is a key member of leadership across campus, developing best practices and sharing challenges for recruitment and admissions.
Responsibilities:
Directing the annual recruitment operational plan and schedule, and its implementation
Work collaboratively with the Associate Vice President, Enrolment to develop and identify recruitment strategies for all Redeemer programs, students and territories to meet the recruitment targets of the institution
Direct annual recruitment plans for specific portfolios and specialized populations including but not limited to athletes, churches, parents, home-educated students, first generation students and transfer students
As part of the annual recruitment plan, develop recruitment pipelines, and subsequent strategies, for individual programs in the portfolio (ex. MEd, BEd, NFP Certificate)
Oversee the planning, development, and execution of recruitment events, including the development of internal processes and recommending of institutional policies to ensure positive and safe campus guest experiences
Set event targets and measuring events success through data-driven analysis and reporting
Alongside the Director, Enrolment Operations, request and plan for any operational changes including the development of new processes/efficiencies, application updates, and new program launches
Ensure the work of admissions and recruitment connects to and enhances the strategic plan of Redeemer University
Create and maintain standard operating procedures for campus visit and events, recruitment travel and other admissions-specific processes
Travel and Recruitment Development
In collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders in the university, support and maintain partnerships with key external stakeholders for program-specific recruitment
Maintain a recruitment territory of students of 20-30 deposited students, including travel, student contacts and application funnel development
Strategically direct key undergraduate portfolios including but not limited to Key High School portfolio, athlete recruitment, international study permit process, homeschool, and parent communications
Travel throughout the year (approx. 5 weeks in total cross-Canada) to key partners & provide regular communication to them throughout the year via newsletters or mail
Leading and Directing Admissions Team
Manage, train, and assist admissions counsellors, Manager, Undergraduate Admissions, enrolment advisors and campus events coordinator
Equip recruitment team with resources and opportunities for continual professional development
Set priorities and keep regular communication with direct reports
Additional Projects and Emerging Opportunities
Regularly review and recommend changes to the admissions processes and requirements for programs in portfolio, removing as many barriers as possible to applicants while maintaining the integrity of the admission requirements and ensuring processes are in line with competing programs.
Review and provide input into program and recruitment-specific communications that connect to the unique prospective student and learner
Represent Redeemer at SEMCCU alongside Directors of Admission at Christian Universities across Canada
Implement recruitment-specific elements of new program development
Be abreast of market research and trends and ensure the Associate Vice President, Enrolment is aware of possible risk and exposure related to admissions and recruitment
Admissions decision review
Undergraduate: Review admissions files for general admissions criteria
BEd: Review admissions files and recommend candidates for interview, subject to faculty review
Certificates: Make admissions decisions for all Not-for-profit Management Certificate students
Academic Microcredentials: Make admissions decisions for learners and students in microcredentials
Masters: Review and recommend masters candidates, subject to faculty review.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
Possesses an in-depth understanding of the university recruitment market in both Ontario and Canada
Experience with Christian post-secondary education
Ability to plan strategies that provide a student-first admissions experience and meets the enrollment targets of the institution
Extensive experience in collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability under pressure
Excellent communication skills
Availability to travel on university business often involving evenings and weekends
