Construction Materials Laboratory Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
Retrieve and transport soil and/or concrete samples from project sites and branch offices to our laboratory facility in Alpha, NJ;
Support construction materials laboratory operations, including sample preparation, general laboratory upkeep and organization, and documentation of test results for engineers and project managers;
Monitor concrete sample curing conditions and maintain testing schedules;
Operate laboratory equipment used for compression testing and materials preparation;
Maintain accurate laboratory records, testing logs, and documentation;
Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace and assist with routine maintenance of testing equipment;
Follow established safety procedures and company standards during all laboratory and field activities;
Perform field testing of construction materials (soils, concrete, and steel) on an occasional as-needed basis; and
Perform other duties as assigned under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Associates degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Geology, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred;
Whitestone will provide a company vehicle for employees to perform the duties of this position. Employees must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle in accordance with company vehicle insurance requirements.
Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements;
Ability to lift and move soil and/or concrete samples as required;
Interest in soils, construction materials testing, and laboratory work;
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing procedures accurately;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
Higher compensation than the amount listed below may be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Hourly Pay Range
$20—$22 USD
