KEYS Service Corps - AmeriCorps Program Support Intern
The KEYS Service Corps-AmeriCorps mission is to improve the lives of youth educationally and socially; help its AmeriCorps Volunteers grow professionally; and improve the communities in which its Volunteers serve.
We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our organization.
Position Summary
The AmeriCorps Program Support Intern will support the administration and coordination of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services’ AmeriCorps program. This position will focus on supporting AmeriCorps Volunteers throughout their service term, researching and connecting Volunteers to community resources, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, and serving as an initial point of contact for Volunteer questions and concerns. The intern will help foster a positive Volunteer experience while ensuring program operations are organized, responsive, and aligned with program requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
AmeriCorps Volunteer Support
Serve as the initial point of contact for AmeriCorps Volunteers experiencing questions, concerns, or challenges during their service term. Provide timely guidance, identify appropriate resources, assist with problem resolution, and escalate complex or sensitive matters to program leadership when necessary.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to Volunteers throughout their service term.
Connect Volunteers with appropriate community resources, services, and support systems.
Identify Volunteer concerns and assist with resolving issues or escalating them to appropriate program staff.
Help promote Volunteer engagement, retention, and overall success.
Recruitment and Onboarding
Assist with recruitment efforts to attract qualified AmeriCorps candidates.
Support the application and interview process for prospective Volunteers.
Collect and organize candidate references and other required documentation.
Communicate with applicants and assist with scheduling interviews or follow-up activities.
Help ensure Volunteers receive timely information and resources prior to beginning service.
Program Administration and Recordkeeping
Digitize and organize program files and Volunteer records.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with program policies.
Support data entry, reporting, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Site Visits and Program Monitoring
Assist with conducting site visits to AmeriCorps placement locations.
Support communication with site supervisors and partner agencies.
Help identify Volunteer needs and ensure placement sites are providing appropriate support.
Document site visit observations and follow up on identified concerns.
Communication and Collaboration
Develop positive working relationships with AmeriCorps Volunteers, site supervisors, community partners, and AC DHS staff.
Communicate program updates and relevant information to Volunteers and stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the AmeriCorps program.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrollment in or completion of a college or university program in social work, human services, public administration, education, or a related field preferred.
Experience working with youth, young adults, community programs, or human services preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
Commitment to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and connecting them with appropriate resources.
