Description of Work
This Certified Nursing Assistant/Health Care Technician I part-time position within the Facility Infirmary and Medical Unit under the Nursing Department provides direct care to developmentally disabled individuals. As our individuals age, we recognize their needs, and focus on providing services to enhance their quality of life in a caring home-like environment. We provide treatment with dignity and respect, offering choices and options that support individuality. The person in this position will care for adults who are medically fragile and have significant intellectual, developmental & physical disabilities.
To be considered for employment the applicant must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry and will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. The CNA/HCT-I position requires frequent lifting and bending.
This Certified Nursing Assistant/Health Care Technician I part-time position is located within the Nursing Department and offers one shift options: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $31,200.00 – $46,348.00
A Sign-on bonus of $1,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
A valid Driver's License.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and others.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and even-tempered demeanor and work relationships; Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of the team.
Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques. Demonstrated ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form.
Ability to perform vital sign monitoring and provide direct patient care, including Foley catheter, tracheostomy, and G-tube care, as well as assistance with treatments such as applying ointments and managing colostomy bags.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature to provide adequate supervision of the assigned population in the home.
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
Work Location: Nursing Department/101 DeltaWork Hours: Recruiting for PART-TIME 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus**
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
