We are seeking a Quality Control & Document Custody Specialist to join our Durham, NC team!
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manage the doc custody program including multiple third-party custodians.
Complete audits of document custodians.
Ensure all collateral files contain required documents including: an executed Note, recorded Deed of Trust, & Final Title Policy.
Certify all documents are accurately endorsed and assigned.
Monitor industry and GSE requirements to ensure compliance.
Monitor applicable regulatory, investor, and industry requirements and recommend process or policy changes as needed.
Identify, analyze, and escalate documentation and collateral deficiencies that may create financial, compliance, or liquidity risk.
Ensure Notice of Sale Policy compliance.
Manage MERs compliance and annual reporting.
Evaluate doc custody needs and improvements for mergers.
Assist in quality control and due diligence file reviews of both mortgage and consumer loans.
Monitor, research, and appeal GSE repurchase demands.
Manage monthly loan repurchases
Develop and execute QC testing/review plans
Establish sampling methodology and selection criteria
Review findings for trends and recurring deficiencies
Document exceptions and deficiencies
Maintain QC documentation and audit trails
Support internal/external audits and regulatory examinations
Review and interpreting GSE/investor requirements
Monitors repurchase trends and identifying root causes
Coordinate with Lending, Secondary Marketing, Servicing, Legal, Compliance, etc.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field preferred and a minimum of three (3) years mortgage processing, underwriting, and/or lending experience OR equivalent related experience
Mortgage quality control, final documentation/doc custody, and knowledge of GSE quality control and Doc Custody policies required.
Consumer loan experience desired.
Prior project management and mortgage underwriting experience, as well as knowledge and understanding of MERs, appraisal review and CRA or affordable home lending desired.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical skills including calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
Ability to effectively plan and prioritize work.
Ability to form and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret loan-level data and reporting.
Ability and willingness to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.

Compensation range
67,600 - $101,400
