The platform addresses the major gap in maternal mental health care, where issues are common but often missed between infrequent clinical screenings. Powered by a proprietary Layered Feeling Intelligence (LFI) engine focused on Coherence, Presence, and Safety, ElephAi surfaces early emotional patterns and offers psychologically safe, grounded support between clinical visits. It functions as a non-diagnostic support tool, giving healthcare professionals a continuous, structured view of emotional wellbeing they have not had before. ElephAi combines validated clinical screenings, trauma-aware micro-interventions, emotional regulation tools, and an always-on safety channel that escalates real risk to human responders.
Role Description This is a remote volunteer role for a Full Stack Developer supporting an early-stage startup focused on maternal and family mental health. The developer will collaborate with founders and product contributors to design, implement, and iterate on core platform features across both front-end and back-end systems. Day-to-day work may include building responsive user interfaces, developing and integrating APIs, managing data flows related to screenings and emotional patterns, and ensuring secure, reliable handling of sensitive user information. The role involves translating product and clinical requirements into scalable technical solutions, participating in architecture discussions, and improving performance, accessibility, and security. The developer will also help establish coding standards, documentation, and testing practices suitable for a healthcare-adjacent product.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Full-Stack Development and Software Development skills, with experience building production-ready web applications.
Candidates should possess Front-End Development skills, including proficiency with modern frameworks and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for responsive, accessible interfaces.
Candidates should possess Back-End Web Development skills, including API design, data modeling, and integration with databases and cloud services.
Experience in early-stage startups or fast-moving product environments, with comfort working in ambiguous and evolving contexts.
Knowledge of security, privacy, and data protection best practices, especially for products handling sensitive health-related information.
Ability to collaborate asynchronously in a remote setting, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and document work effectively.
Familiarity with or interest in digital health, mental health, or maternal health domains is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is preferred but not required.
