About Nexus Points Doc
Nexus Points Doc is a youth-led forensic research platform supported by the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy — selected from 14,000 global applicants. We build what we call a Forensic Truth-Infrastructure: combining satellite forensics, open-source intelligence, and community documentation to make the invisible visible. Our advisory board includes 27 scholars from Yale, Columbia, Oxford, Goldsmiths, and Forensic Architecture.
The Role
We are seeking a Research & Intelligence Intern to become the analytical backbone of our global operations. This is a remote, flexible role for someone who thrives on finding what others miss — tracking opportunities, mapping networks, and turning raw information into strategic intelligence.
You will work directly with our founder and CEO, feeding the research pipeline that drives our partnerships, funding strategy, and platform growth.
Responsibilities
Opportunity Intelligence: Monitor and identify fellowship, grant, and partnership opportunities aligned with Nexus Points Doc's mission — building a live database of leads with deadlines, requirements, and strategic fit assessments
Network Mapping: Research and profile potential advisory board members, institutional partners, collaborators, and media contacts across environmental justice, forensic research, and investigative journalism
Competitive & Sector Analysis: Track developments in environmental data, satellite forensics, ESG regulation, and investigative media — producing weekly intelligence briefings for the team
Partner Research: Conduct deep-dive background research on organizations, funders, and individuals before outreach — equipping the founder with everything needed to walk into any meeting prepared
Pipeline Support: Maintain and update our partnership and funding CRM — tracking the status of active conversations, follow-ups, and pending applications
Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate in Political Science, International Relations, Environmental Studies, Journalism, or a related field
Sharp research instincts — comfortable navigating academic databases, grant portals, LinkedIn, and open-source intelligence tools
Strong written English — able to produce concise, actionable summaries and briefings
Self-directed working style with ability to deliver on a clear 3-day production cycle
Genuine interest in environmental justice, investigative media, forensic research, or global policy
3–5 hours per week availability
