Senior Databricks Solution Architect - Genie

Role overview
We are seeking senior, hands-on Databricks Solution Architects to design and implement commercial analytics use cases for a Pharma/Biotech client. The immediate focus is reworking AI/BI Genie spaces for planning and execution, pre-call preparation, and field-execution workflows, then testing and moving those solutions through QA and staging.
This is a delivery role. The right person can work directly with business and technical stakeholders to define useful questions, design the underlying data and security approach, build and refine Genie spaces, and prepare them for production. A formal Resident Solutions Architect title is not required.
Responsibilities
Lead use-case discussions with client stakeholders and translate business questions into Genie space requirements.
Design, build, test, and refine Genie spaces so users receive accurate, useful answers grounded in governed data.
Work on the Databricks architecture, including workspace and catalog access, Unity Catalog, on-behalf-of (OBO) access, and role-level security.
Identify limitations, data quality issues, access gaps, and answer-quality risks; recommend practical fixes.
Partner with the client team to move use cases through QA and staging and establish production-readiness criteria.
Remain hands-on with the implementation while providing architectural guidance to the broader team.
Required experience
Strong, hands-on Databricks solution design and data engineering experience.
Direct experience designing and implementing Genie spaces, including configuring them around business questions and improving answer quality through testing and iteration.
Strong working knowledge of Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, data modeling, workspace/catalog permissions, and governed access patterns.
Experience designing secure access for different user roles, including OBO patterns where applicable.
Ability to lead discussions with business users, ask the right discovery questions, and explain technical decisions clearly.
Experience taking Databricks solutions through testing, QA/staging, and production readiness.
Preferred experience
Pharma, biotech, life sciences, or commercial field analytics experience.
Familiarity with planning, pre-call, and field-execution workflows.
Experience working with distributed client and delivery teams.
