Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer functions as a liaison between quality, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support and manage supplier performance.

Accountabilities:
Evaluate and audit supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems to ensure compliance with company, customer and applicable industry requirements.
Exercise authority to stop production and/or prevent shipment when actual or potential product nonconformance could impact customers.
Identify root causes of supplier quality issues and coordinate timely, effective corrective actions and resolutions.
Maintain accurate and complete supplier quality documentation and records.
Promptly escalate critical supplier quality issues to Supplier Quality leadership.
Review and approve supplier quality plans for new product programs.
Support environmental objectives by implementing sustainable processes, identifying improvement opportunities, reducing waste, and addressing environmental performance findings.
Ensure suppliers understand and comply with product specifications and submission requirements.
Qualifications:
4+ years' experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant quality and engineering software, such as Minitab, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PC-DMIS and CMM programming; ability to effectively use supplier and customer software systems.
Six Sigma training or certification preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex issues and determine appropriate courses of action.
Working knowledge of supplier quality standards, policies and procedures, FMEA, and control plans.
Ability to investigate quality issues, apply sound technical judgment and develop effective solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and/or ISO auditor certification preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent education and/or relevant experience will be considered.
