Mechanical Engineering Intern

Internship Summary:
We are looking for a mechanical engineering intern to support product development and manufacturing. As an Mechanical Engineering Intern at Spectra-Physics, you will partner with R and D/Product Development group to support the mechanical engineering effort in developing laser products and supporting manufacturing processes. In this role, you will report to the mechanical engineering manager. The internship takes place in Spring.
Responsibilities:
Use Solidworks to design mechanical parts, assemblies and drawings.
Use EPDM, Agile and SAP to properly document model files and drawing files.
Develop a working knowledge of the design features and materials used in laser products.
Collaborate with the other engineering groups to develop products and processes
Support the validation/qualification processes of mechanical assemblies/fixtures/tools.
Adhere to laser safety and cleanroom protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
CAD/drafting experience preferred
Qualifications:
No travel is required.
Completion of sophomore or junior curriculum of a BSME program.
Years of job-related work experience: No prior work experience required
Must be familiar with the use of basic hand tools
Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $27.00–$35.00 per hour.
