Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity
Ally is seeking a Senior Motion & Interaction Designer to help establish and grow our motion design practice within UX. In close partnership with the UX Principal of Motion, this person will shape how motion enhances Ally’s digital customer experiences and help create the principles, patterns, and frameworks needed to scale it across the organization.
We're looking for a senior-level practitioner who can operate independently, influence cross-functional teams, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about creating meaningful, accessible, and engaging experiences through motion and interaction design and is excited by the opportunity to build something new.


The Work Itself
Ally is looking for a Senior Motion & Interaction Designer to build and expand our motion design practice in UX. Working closely with the UX Principal of Motion, this role will develop how motion improves Ally’s digital customer experiences. The person will also help develop the principles, patterns, and frameworks required to scale motion throughout the company.
We're seeking a senior-level professional who can work independently, guide cross-functional teams, and balance critical thinking with practical action. This role suits someone passionate about crafting meaningful, accessible, and engaging experiences through motion and interaction design. They should be excited by the chance to develop something new.
You’ll work alongside Creative Services, UX Design, Design Operations, Marketing, Product, and Technology to build motion and interaction experiences that boost usability, express system behavior, and uphold Ally’s brand. You’ll contribute to defining where motion generates customer and business value and how it can be adopted widely across Ally’s digital products.

As one of the foundational members of Ally's motion design practice, you'll help establish how motion and interaction design expand across our digital ecosystem. Your work will influence not only the experiences we develop today, but the standards and systems that build the future of UX at Ally.
On a typical day, you’ll partner with UX designers and developers to bring digital experiences to life through motion. You’ll move between creative exploration, hands-on production, collaboration, and implementation, helping shape both individual experiences and Ally’s growing motion design practice.
Explore and prototype interactions, transitions, micro-interactions, and motion concepts.
Create production-ready motion assets using tools like Lottie, Rive, and other emerging technologies.
Partner with UX designers to define interaction behaviors, state changes, feedback, and other motion-driven experience patterns.
Provide developers with clear visual motion guidance, specifications, and reference materials to support a faithful 1:1 translation of motion concepts into the final experience.
Build reusable patterns and standards that contribute to a scalable, consistent motion system across Ally’s digital products.
Identify opportunities for motion to improve usability, reinforce brand expression, and create more engaging customer experiences.
What You'll Bring - Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience in motion design, interaction design, animation, or a related field passionate about digital products and experiences.
Advanced proficiency in After Effects, Figma, and modern prototyping tools.
Experience with Lottie, Rive, front-end motion tech or similar motion implementation frameworks.
A portfolio demonstrating outstanding motion build craft, interaction compose expertise, and critical thinking.
Proven ability to independently lead motion initiatives from concept through implementation with minimal oversight.
Experience contributing to build systems, motion systems, or scalable design frameworks.
Experience collaborating with developers to bring motion concepts to production.
Knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive build principles, and reduced-motion considerations.

3+ years of experience
High school Diploma or GED equivalent
