The Role:
We are looking for our next Production Operator - Pea Reception & Loadout within our Production Operations team. Reporting to the Unit 1 Production Manager, this position is responsible for contributing to daily KPI performance across safety, productivity and quality while supporting short and long term production objectives. The role monitors industrial equipment and automated processes safely and efficiently, performs sampling, basic maintenance, loadout and receiving activities, and collaborates closely with GPL, Process Engineers, Shift Supervisors and Operators.
This position is located in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
What You'll Do:
· Safely operate and monitor pea reception, pea cream, pea feed, pellets and screenings loadout systems.
· Monitor and control processes through HMI and other production systems.
· Apply plant safety requirements including LOTO, permits, confined space and hot work procedures.
· Perform in-process sampling, basic chemistry testing and transfer quality samples to the laboratory.
· Complete autonomous maintenance tasks, equipment inspections and SAP work notifications.
· Support truck loading/unloading activities and coordinate with operators, guardhouse personnel and supervisors.
· Maintain GMP, HACCP, sanitation and housekeeping standards across assigned areas.
· Participate in investigations, root-cause analysis, SOP/OPL updates and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Use SAP, MES/MII and related digital tools to manage inventory, receiving and production transactions.
· Complete reports, checklists and other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Education: Grade 12 diploma or GED.
· Industrial safety knowledge.
· Food safety, GMP and HACCP knowledge.
· Ability to work with digital tools including SAP, MES and Microsoft Office.
· Strong technical aptitude in production, maintenance and process operations.
· Ability to complete analytical tests and autonomous maintenance activities.
Experience:
· 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably food processing or agriculture.
· Experience with process safety, food safety and GMP programs.
· Experience using HMI or automated process control systems.
· Experience with conveyors, pumps, motors, valves and process instrumentation.
Work Environment: Regular work in both indoor manufacturing and outdoor environments with exposure to seasonal weather, dust, noise, humidity and plant operating conditions.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs; stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and work at heights. Must be able to wear required PPE, safety harnesses and work in confined spaces as required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time position. Extended hours, evenings, weekends and overtime may be required based on production needs.
