Manager, Loss Mitigation Performance & Legal Support

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the daily work, priorities, and performance of the Loss Mitigation Performance & Legal Support team, ensuring appropriate case assignment, workload balance, and timely resolution of escalated matters.
Serve as the management-level subject matter expert for loss mitigation activities involving litigated, contested foreclosure, bankruptcy, and other legally sensitive or escalated assets.
Lead cross-functional coordination with Legal, Servicing, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Compliance, Investor stakeholders, and operational teams to drive compliant and effective resolution strategies.
Provide guidance and decision support on complex borrower situations, including non-standard modification requests, settlement discussions, retention options, and alternative workout recommendations.
Oversee litigation-related loss mitigation requests, responses, and documentation to ensure alignment with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, legal strategies, and business objectives.
Monitor case inventories, pipeline aging, service levels, performance metrics, quality trends, and operational risks; escalate material issues with recommended solutions as appropriate.
Establish and reinforce consistent workflows, handoffs, controls, and communication standards across Intake, Underwriting, Quality Assurance, Fulfillment, and other operational partners.
Coach, develop, and provide performance feedback to team members, promoting accountability, technical proficiency, compliance, quality, and strong execution.
Support audits, regulatory requests, investor reviews, complaint escalations, and internal control reviews by ensuring timely, complete, and well-supported responses.
Identify process improvement opportunities and partner with leadership to implement training, reporting, procedure updates, and operational enhancements that strengthen effectiveness and defensibility.
Prepare and communicate status updates, risk summaries, trend analysis, and recommended action plans to leadership and key stakeholders.
Perform other related duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
7+ years of mortgage servicing experience with strong knowledge of loss mitigation, foreclosure timelines, bankruptcy processes, litigation support, and investor requirements.
2+ years of supervisory, team lead, or people management experience preferred; demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable.
Demonstrated experience managing escalated, complex, or legally sensitive loss mitigation matters and making sound recommendations in high-risk situations.
Working knowledge of SARA, LMS, Director, BKFS, and other mortgage servicing systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and risk assessment skills with the ability to evaluate complex borrower scenarios and operational impacts.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence, align, and collaborate across multiple business units, leadership levels, and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and escalations in a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to lead process improvement, reinforce quality controls, and promote compliance, consistency, and operational excellence.
