Help teams scope projects, identify dependencies, and surface technical or delivery risks.
Maintain visibility into engineering progress and communicate issues to leadership when appropriate.
Improve development and delivery processes as the engineering organization grows.
Ensure projects have clear ownership and appropriate technical direction.

Help engineers evaluate implementation approaches and technical tradeoffs.
Promote maintainable architecture, reusable patterns, and consistent engineering practices.
Support appropriate standards around code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation, and production operations.
Help identify and prioritize technical debt and infrastructure improvements.
Participate in troubleshooting and incident response when necessary.
Serve as a key engineering partner to Product and company leadership.
Communicate technical constraints, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Coordinate engineering work that crosses teams or technical disciplines.
Help resolve unclear ownership, conflicting priorities, and dependencies.
Contribute to engineering planning and longer-term technical strategy.
Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to augment team productivity, code review, test automation, and development speed.
Who You Are
3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience leading teams, projects, or significant technical initiatives.
Experience designing, building, or maintaining production software systems.
Strong understanding of backend development and modern software architecture.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure and production environments.
Familiarity with modern software development practices, including source control, code review, automated deployment, testing, and monitoring.
Experience working collaboratively with Product or other non-engineering teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to organize work, establish priorities, and make decisions in an environment with changing requirements.
Comfortable balancing technical leadership with people and organizational responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Technical Lead, or similar leadership role.
Experience with Go or another strongly typed backend language.
Experience with AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and containerized environments.
Experience building real-time, social, messaging, or high-concurrency systems.
Experience with authentication, permissions, or identity systems.
Experience improving CI/CD, release, or developer workflows.
Experience working in an early-stage or rapidly growing technology company.
Experience helping an engineering team scale from a small initial group into a larger organization.
