Trainee Field Service Engineer – Ultrasound
Outline: We have a fantastic opportunity for an engineering graduate to enter the medical industry in a Trainee Field Service Engineer role with a fantastic company. The successful applicant will be working with some amazing equipment, initially in ultrasound, before cross training on other equipment.
The Roles:
Covering the Midlands and central belt, you’ll be assisting experienced engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and repairs of ultrasound equipment.
You will learn diagnostic fault-finding techniques on ultrasound systems, and in time, on other equipment as well.
As part of the role, you’ll assist with equipment installations, upgrades and decommissioning in NHS and Private hospitals across the region.
You’ll shadow engineers during customer visits and progressively undertake service activities under supervision, taking on more and more responsibility.
As part of the role, you will complete service documentation accurately and within agreed timescales.
It’s essential that you develop an understanding of electrical safety testing, quality standards and medical device regulations.
As you’d expect, you’ll build professional relationships with customers and provide courteous technical support.
You will manage vehicle stock, tools and test equipment and ensure that you maintain a professional image whilst representing the company.
Part of your development will be attending training courses, along with internal development programs.
From time to time, you will support engineering activities in other areas and across the UK, as required.
Full initial training will be provided, with an outgoing career development plan.

The Ideal Person:
It is vital you have suitable formal education and you’re a recent graduate in Biomedical Engineering or Mechatronics with a strong understanding of electronics – or you have a HND / HNC (or equivalent) in Elections / Mechatronics.
Anyone applying needs a true passion for working on electronic items, this could be from a hobby, or from work / university experience, but it’s essential.
You could be a very recent gradute with no formal employment since graduation, this really is a true “graduate” role.
It’s essential that you’re comfortable working with electronics, and you have a passion for fault finding and have a “first time right” attitude.
You will need good interpersonal skills as you’ll be meeting new customer daily, and positive customer interactions are vital.
Anyone applying needs to be a problem solver, someone who looks for the solution with a positive mindset.
You must live centrally on the area, and the client is only seeking candidates who are in the Northampton, Daventry, Wellingborough, Towcester, Rugby or surrounding areas (not far off the M1)
It’s vital that you have a full UK driving licence.
